UK Coastguard requested the launch of our D Class lifeboat after a dog fell over the cliffs between Monknash and Nash Point. Ellie the dog had been very lucky in that she landed on a large cliff fall, so only fell about 20 metres. She appeared to have sustained very minor injuries. Two of our crew went ashore and attempted to coax her down but were unable to reach her due to the unstableness of the cliff fall. Llantwit Major Coastguard set up for a rope rescue supported by Barry Coastguard and sent a team member down the cliff to the dog. The Coastguard team recovered her back up the cliff and reunited her with her owners.
