UK Coastguard requested that our D Class lifeboat diverted from a training exercise to investigate two swimmers Porthcawl NCI had expressed concern for. The D Class had been involved in filming for BBC Wales’ X-Ray Programme at Rest Bay along with colleagues from RNLI lifeguards for a feature about beach and water safety. The crew were quickly on scene off Porthcawl seafront where they located the two swimmers near Windsor Road. Neither swimmer were showing signs of distress and did not require any further assistance. The D Class was stood down and returned to Rest Bay to continue filming.
