UK Coastguard tasked our volunteer crew to assist three kayakers who were struggling against the tide and wind North of Tusker Rock. The kayakers were being monitored on CCTV by National Coastwatch Institution – Porthcawl with the footage relayed to the UK Coastguard operations room. The kayakers had been observed struggling to make their way back to shore and capsizing on a number of occasions. All three were brought onboard the lifeboat and taken back to Sandy Bay (Coney Beach) where they’d launched from. We were met on the beach by our colleagues from Porthcawl Coastguard.
