Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard shortly after the charity’s lifeboats had been rehoused following their Sunday morning training exercise.
The crew were tasked to investigate two small inflatable boats in Newton Bay following a report they may be in difficulty.
When the crew arrived on scene they were quickly able to establish the people onboard the two inflatable boats were fishing and not in need of assistance. The occupants of the boats were well equipped with life jackets and had a means to call for help.
The crew were stood down from the incident with the call being a false alarm with good intent.
In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard.
