Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard following a report a paddleboarder was struggling against strong offshore winds at Newton bay.

The charity’s D Class lifeboat Hugo Missen was launched on service and made best possible speed to the incident.

Once on scene the crew spotted the paddleboarder who was now safely ashore having been assisted by a kite surfer. The crew were then stood down from the incident.

The Lifeboat was recovered by the station’s Landrover at Newton slipway and then returned to station.
