Both lifeboats were launched to conduct separate searches for missing children last seen in the water. Two children were missing at Rest Bay and one child at Sandy Bay. UK Coastguard requested the launch of our Atlantic 85 lifeboat following a report of an inflatable dinghy with two people onboard who were attempting to paddle out to fairy buoy. Porthcawl’s volunteer crew were tasked to two personal watercraft’s (PWC’s) half way between Porthcawl and Lynmouth. One PWC had suffered steering failure whilst the other was likely to run out of fuel due to the extra strain caused by towing the stricken PWC back to Porthcawl. Sea conditions were moderate/choppy and wind NW force 4.

UK Coastguard requested the launch of our D Class lifeboat to check on a group of seven people cut off by the tide at Dunraven Bay. All were happy to stay in their location until the tide receded. The D Class returned to station with no further assistance given.

Porthcawl's D Class lifeboat was launched on service on Friday evening to two people cut off by the tide to the east of Dunraven Bay. The two were out on a first date which didn't quite go to plan. After a walk along the coast near Southerndown they found themselves trapped by the incoming tide.
