Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were on exercise onboard the charity's Atlantic 85 Rose of the Shires when tasked by HM Coastguard to a child that was refusing to leave the water at Newton Beach by her parents. The charity's Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rose of the Shires and D Class lifeboat Hugo Missen were both launched on service

The area was searched by Llantwit Major coastguard rescue team and Porthcawl RNLI's crew onboard the charity's Atlantic 85 lifeboat with nothing found. Porthcawl RNLI's volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard at 2.34pm on Saturday 27 April following a report that three people on stand up paddleboards (SUPs) were struggling to get back to shore at Rest Bay, Porthcawl. Due to strong north easterly (offshore) winds the casualties had been blown around 1 mile from the shore.

Porthcawl RNLI's volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard following reports of a paddleboard (SUP) a fair distance from the shore off Hardy's Bay, Ogmore by Sea in fading light. The charity's Atlantic 85, Rose of the Shires was launched on service and conducted a search of the area along with Llantwit Major Coastguard team.
