The D Class lifeboat was tasked by UK Coastguard to investigate an object in the water approximately half a mile south east of Porthcawl Point. The volunteer crew arrived on scene to find a log in the water, the tasking being a false alarm with good intent. If you have concerns regarding something you have seen on the coast please contact the Coastguard on 999. We would far rather be called than not at all.
