Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were returning to station from an earlier incident at Newton onboard the charity’s Atlantic 85 Rose of the Shires when they were tasked by HM Coastguard to a report of multiple people trying to cross the Ogmore river.
Numerous people had been caught out by the incoming tide having crossed the river earlier in the day.
The Atlantic 85 arrived on scene and transferred 24 people across to the Ogmore side of the river.
In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
