Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were on training exercise at Rest Bay onboard Atlantic 85Β Rose of the Shires when they spotted a paddleboarder being assisted by an RNLI lifeguard some distance from the shore. There was a second paddleboarder close by too. Both had been some distance from the shore in off shore winds when the RNLI lifeguards arrived for their morning patrol and a lifeguard paddled out to speak to them and encourage them to return to store.
One of the paddleboarders was taken onboard the lifeboat and dropped closer to shore in the main bay whilst the other paddleboarder and the RNLI lifeguard made their own way back to shore.
