Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard immediately after completing a demonstration for RescueFest crowds.

2 people and a dog were cut off by the tide near Monknash. Both the charity’s Atlantic 85 Rose of the Shires and D Class Hugo Missen made best speed to the location with 2 crew going ashore to reassure the casualties.
Due to the size of swell breaking onto the shore the safest method of extraction was rope rescue by colleagues from Llantwit Major Coastguard. The 2 people and their dog were recovered by rope rescue up the cliff face.
The lifeboats were then stood down from  the incident and returned back to station to be made ready for service.
