UK Coastguard paged Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew to assist our RNLI Lifeguards South East Wales colleagues who were providing assistance to a kayaker who’d capsized and lost their paddle off Trecco Bay.
The charity’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Rose of the Shires was launched on service and took the kayaker and his kayak onboard. The kayaker was then dropped back to the beach at Newton.
The kayaker had all the correct safety equipment including a lifejacket and mobile phone in a waterproof case but had been unfortunate in losing his paddle when he’d capsized.
