Porthcawl’s volunteer crew were tasked whilst out on training exercise to a casualty at Kenfig Sands (Sker Beach) who had injured their ankle whilst out running. The Atlantic 85 lifeboat proceeded to the scene and commenced a shoreline search to locate the casualty. Coastguard rescue teams from Porthcawl and Port Talbot were also tasked to the incident. The lifeboat conducted several search legs parallel to the beach but was unable to locate the casualty. When the Coastguard units arrived they conducted a brief search and located the casualty in the dunes at the top of the beach. With no further assistance required from our crew the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station whilst the Coastguard units extracted the casualty back to Kenfig Nature Reserve car park.
