Porthcawl RNLI’s volunteer crew were tasked by HM Coastguard and requested to launch both the charity’s lifeboats to assist with a multi-agency response at Sandy Bay (Coney Beach). The charity’s D Class inshore lifeboat Hugo Missen and Atlantic 85 Rose of the Shires were both launched on service within minutes as the crew were already preparing to launch on a training exercise.
