Both lifeboats were launched to a Mayday call. A child had been swept out to sea at Ogmore River and there were reports that three adults had gone in after the child.
The Atlantic 85 was launched first and arrived on scene to find all persons were now safely ashore. Two off duty volunteer lifeguards had rescued the child using a rescue paddle board. A crew member went ashore to check no medical attention was required and spoke with the off duty lifeguards. All persons involved were safe and well and the child and parent had left the scene. Based on this information we were stood down and our lifeboats returned to station.
Llantwit Major CoastguardΒ and the UK Coastguard Helicopter based at St Athan were also tasked to the incident.
