Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched on service under the command of our newest helm, Sam Williams who had passed his helm assessment just 20 hours prior to being paged. The lifeboat was launched to a sailing yacht with two people onboard which had suffered engine difficulties one mile East of Tusker Buoy. The yacht was struggling to battle against the tidal conditions. The lifeboat made best speed to the yacht’s location, taking it under tow and in to Porthcawl Marina to allow the skipper to undertake repairs.
