Our volunteers launched the Atlantic 85 lifeboat in high winds and rough seas following a report 2 windsurfers were in difficulty in Newton Bay. The lifeboat arrived on scene to find one windsurfer had made it ashore onto the beach whilst the other was in shallow water and in the process of taking his equipment ashore between Newton and Ogmore By Sea. The lifeboat stood by until the arrival of Porthcawl Coastguard. Once Porthcawl Coastguard were on scene they met the casualties who were a father and son and checked no further medical attention was required. Our lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.
