Our volunteers launched both the Atlantic 85 and D Class Lifeboats to conduct a search of the Newton Point and Rhych Point area. We were tasked by UK Coastguard following information received from South Wales Police that a person staying at Trecco Bay (who was believed to be intoxicated) had potentially entered the water from either of these points. Our lifeboats conducted a thorough search of the area along with Porthcawl Coastguard Team. We were stood down by UK Coastguard after a search of 45 minutes when updated information from the police indicated the person had headed inland.
